Translator Utility

The Translator Utility enables you to translate any text using one of your installed translation engines.  If the translation engine is turned on, dataset documents will be translated in the Document Viewer.  For documents not in your dataset, you can translate text by using the following procedure.

To translate a document perform the following procedure.

  1. Open a foreign language document in notepad or some other available text viewer to display the text of the document.

  2. From the IN-SPIRE main toolbar Translation menu, select Translator Utility.  The Translator Utility window will display.

  3. From the Translate using (language) drop-down menu, select the translator available to your system.  The list will display the languages you can use.

  4. Click on a Language to select it from the Language list for the Original Text.  You can select a different translation engine from the drop-down menu.  A different engine will cause different languages to be enabled in the Language list.

  5. From your open document text area, select the text you want to translate.

  6. Press Ctrl-C to copy the selected text to the Windows clipboard.  You can select text from any document.  It does not have to be text from a document that is in your dataset.

  7. Pick the language that you want to use for the Translated Text.  In this example, the chosen language is English.

  8. Click in the Translator Utility window Original Text area, and press Ctrl-V to paste the text.

Use the scroll bars under the text to move through the pasted text.

  9. Click the Translate button.  The translation will display in the translated text area.

  10. You can cut and paste the translated text into a word processor.

  11. To delete this translation and translate more text from another document, click Clear and repeat the procedure.
