Using Keyboard Shortcuts to Refine Your Selection

The following shortcuts work with:

To add to an existing selection

Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the mouse cursor until the selection box highlights the items you wish to add. While the SHIFT key is down, the cursor will change to to show that you are adding items to a selection.

To remove items from an existing selection

While holding down the ALT key, click and drag a selection rectangle around the items you wish to remove. While the ALT key is down, the cursor will change to to show that you are removing items from a selection.

To select only items common to an existing selection and a new one

Hold down both the SHIFT and ALT keys and click and drag a selection rectangle around the new selection. Release the mouse. The items that will remain selected are those that were selected initially which are also found in the second selection. While the SHIFT and ALT keys are both down, the cursor will be to indicate that you are intersecting a selection.
