File

To open an existing dataset or project, create a new one, or manage datasets and projects

Choose File > Projects.

To save groups, searches, ratings, etc. without exiting IN-SPIRE

Choose File > Save Session. As well as groups, searches, and ratings, focused documents, search networks, color preferences and other changes to the dataset will be saved.

To view dataset security markings

To view security markings in a separate window, choose File > Dataset Markings. If the documents are unmarked, the window will be blank.

To set all documents to "unread"

Viewed documents are marked with an "x" in the Galaxy. Choose File > Clear Document Viewed Status to reset the read status to "unread."

To make datasets from portions of the current dataset

Choose File > Subset from Selection to create a dataset from the selected documents only. See Dataset subset

Choose File > Subset from Focus to create a dataset from the documents currently in your focus.

Choose File > Subset from Outside Focus if you want to create a dataset from documents not included in your focus (the inverse of Subset from Focus).

To export selected documents, a table of data, or a picture to the clipboard

Choose File > Export… . See Export for more information.

Choose File > Export Document Text to export selected documents to a text file

Choose File > Export Increment… to export increments of data.

To print documents

To print all of the selected documents, choose File > Print Selected Documents. Since selections propagate between tools and visualizations, documents can be selected by any means. See Ways to Select Documents.

To print the document whose content is visible in the Document Viewer, choose File > Print Current Document.

To exit IN-SPIRE

Choose File > Exit.

Edit

To select all documents

Choose Edit > Select all

To select the inverse of the documents currently selected

Choose Edit > Reverse Selection

To deselect all selected documents

Choose Edit > Clear Selection

To change and adjust color of objects in IN-SPIRE

Choose Edit > Color Chooser

View

To hide or show the left and right sidebars

Choose View > Hide/Show Left Sidebar or Hide/Show Right Sidebar. See Sidebars for more information.

To toggle sidebars

Choose View>Toggle Sidebars

Tools

From the Tools menu you can open the Galaxy , ThemeView, and ThemeView Classic visualizations as well as the following tools: Correlation, Document Viewer, Export, Facets, Lexical Analysis, Major Terms, Ratings, Search, Time, and Search Networks.

Settings

To measure with a Lexicon

Choose Settings > Measure with Lexicon...

To manage viewpoints

Choose Viewpoints > Manage Viewpoints. For more information on Viewpoints and how to use them, see Viewpoints.

To view unused terms

Choose Viewpoints > Show Unused Terms

To attach a viewpoint and see the data from that point of view

Choose Viewpoints > Attach Viewpoint.

To detach the current viewpoint

Choose Viewpoints > Detach Viewpoint.

To turn machine translation on

Choose Translation > Translation On. The Document Viewer window will be split into original language and English translation panels.

To choose languages and translators

Choose Translation > Translator Settings. Displays the Translator Settings window so you can select the language and translator you want to use.

To translate short passages from documents

To translate selected text only without translating all dataset documents, choose Translation > Translator Utility to open the Translator Utility.

To auto summarize terms

Choose Settings> Auto Summarize

Window

To cascade tools in the single window

Choose Window> Cascade

To place tools in quadrants in the single window

Choose Window> Snap to Quadrant 1, 2, 3, or 4

To place tools from left, right, top, or bottom in the single window

Choose Window> Snap to Left, Right, Top, or Bottom

Help

To view these Help documents in your browser

Choose Help > Show Help.

To view IN-SPIRE version and build information

Choose Help > About.
